Honourary Chair: Loretta Ross

Vision Quest chooses distinguished members of the Indigenous community to be recognized as Honourary Chair, and we’re pleased to announce that Loretta Ross is Honourary Chair for 2018.

Loretta obtained her law degree from Queens University, has been a practicing lawyer for over 20 years, and has served as legal counsel to many First Nations governments and organizations. She has served on various Boards including the Manitoba Human Rights Commission, and recently became the new Treaty Commissioner.

Loretta believes it is important to help people understand treaties and the role they played in creating the country. “I strongly believe that awareness and education are the key to addressing discrimination, as the adversarial process often does little other than to further polarize  views,” she says.

Loretta is a member of the Hollow Water First Nation, a mother of four, and a kokum.
