Workshop Sessions #4
The Indian Act and Economic Sanctions
Craig Blacksmith, Dakota Plains Wahpeton Oyate
Economic principles dictate that in order for a community to be self-sufficient, a dollar has to circulate within the community seven times before it leaves. The Indian Act is government policy entrenched in law disguised as economic sanctions, and 85% unemployment and social dysfunctions within First Nation communities are evidence of this reality. This session will provide participants the information required to make informed decisions. Questions will be encouraged.
